Ely Arts Festival is delighted to present an evening of music inspired by myth, legend and folklore. Featuring 350 local school children, a live orchestra, community choirs, dancers and professional soloists, it promises to be a wonderful evening of community music making!
The programme journeys through heroic tales and magical worlds, from Robin Hood, Hercules, Moana, Trolls and Brave to the epic landscapes of The Lord of the Rings. Folk songs from across the British Isles including Aitken Drum and The Lambton Worm will be sung, alongside the world premiere of Black Shuck by David Sims, inspired by the famous East Anglian legend.
The concert will begin with a colourful parade down the nave with school children wearing themed headdresses created in the schools and funded by the Ely Arts Festival. Free singing workshops in schools will also be delivered as part of the project by Chris Parsons, and dancers from King's Ely will perform down the nave during the concert.
