“My Friend, Mr Dickens” by Brian Watson, portraying Charles Dickens’ biographer and best friend, John Forster. This is the last ever performance of this highly-acclaimed one-man show that tells the story of the great, but complex, writer including a dramatised reading in Dickens’ own style.

John Forster met Dickens before the journalism and short stories began the writer’s long career, and Forster saved Charles from spiralling into debt. They became fast friends, and remained so through the turbulence of Dickens’ home life which lay behind the public celebrity.
