Wed 19th June - Cinematic Piano with Jon Brigg

Cinematic Jazz Originals: composer-pianist Jonathan Brigg performs a new set of piano pieces composed over a period of 6 years. Brigg says: “I wanted to create a repertoire for myself as I love playing piano but am limited due to an arm injury and chronic tendonitis. With these pieces I wanted maximum expression with minimum strain on my arms. The pieces draw on my love of classical melody, contemporary jazz harmony, and a cinematic mood. I try to distill these influences and use as few notes as possible”.

Jonathan is a composer, arranger, pianist and conductor whose work spans many genres including contemporary classical, opera, jazz, folk and pop. His own music draws on this eclectic range, and has been performed by, among others, Britten Sinfonia, Orkest de Ereprijs, the Nieuw Ensemble, Richard Casey, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Animato Kwartet, and Threads Orchestra.
