Creative Writing Workshop - Fen Folklore
with Artemis Writers

Spoken Word Take part!

Sat 22nd June

3.30PM - 5.30PM
The Yard

£10 per participant

A Northumbrian queen sails to the Isle of Ely in pursuit of spiritual freedom. In a demon-haunted barrow of Crowland, a renowned warrior battles temptation. Shadows in Somersham Wood flicker as a spirit of flame blazes blasphemies. A ghostly black dog, its eyes like saucers, stalks the land. Welcome to the Fens, where tales of mystery and marvel grow thick and deep-rooted.

In this creative writing workshop, explore the legends of local saints, the dark history of the witch trials and the lore of Black Shuck, drawing on a range of texts to inspire new creative visions. You will leave the workshop thoroughly immersed in the folklore of the area and brimming with ideas about how to develop setting and plot. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned novelist, these hands-on exercises with stimulating source material will fire your imagination.

Artemis Writers is run by local authors, Heather and Sophia. Qualified teachers with a passion for helping people tell their own stories, their mission is to go into the heart of East Anglian communities and inspire a love of writing.

The workshop is suitable for ages 12 and over, though the focus will be on writing aimed at adults. Please bring a notebook or laptop, pen or pencil.
