Caminando String Quartet present a contrasting afternoon programme.
In the first half, Ludwig van Beethoven’s String Quartet in G major, Op. 18 No. 2 reveals a work of elegance and wit, its genial character shaped by finely judged interplay and a lightness of touch. Following a short interval, the quartet turns to the sensuous sound world of Maurice Ravel’s String Quartet in F major, a masterpiece of colour and texture, where lyricism and rhythmic vitality combine in music of remarkable refinement.
The quartet comprises King’s Ely Director of Music Neil Porter-Thaw and his wife Nikki Porter-Thaw, who is Head of Strings at the school, alongside veteran local player Arthur Mak and his son Julian.
