Brigg’s music traverses a wide range of stylistic influences, from contemporary classical to jazz and pop. His unusual musical range has seen him as a finalist in the V International Uuno Klami Composition Competition in Finland and as regular collaborator on multi-genre projects with The Kooks’s Hugh Harris. Last year at Ely Arts Festival he gave his first solo performance on piano with two sets of moody post-classical pieces. This year he wants to showcase a more freewheeling approach.
Brigg writes: “I want to prepare around 20 original compositions and then just sit down and play whatever piece comes into my head next. I have a feeling I’ll end up playing pieces I didn’t prepare! I think this stream-of-consciousness approach could be fun, and will free up the pieces.”
