5 questions to... Louise Beale !

Welcome to "5 questions to..."
where we'll introduce you
to artists and art champions involved in the festival!

For the first iteration of "5 questions to...", we've spoken to Louise Beale, a local ceramicist who also happens to be part of the organising committee of the festival! Without further ado, here are her answers...

EAF: What is your favourite art form and why?

Louise Beale: Ceramics! Clay has endless possibilities. Taking a material dug from the ground and creating something beautiful with it gives me a sense of pride. I enjoy experimenting with surface decoration techniques and combining different glazes. Creating artwork for other people to enjoy and the exhilarating feeling of opening my kiln after a glaze firing is why ceramics is my favourite art form.

Why did you decide to join the organising committee?

The joy of working with young people and seeing them create something that they can be proud of.

If you could share a meal with five artists dead or alive, who would they be?

Grayson Perry, Banksy, Claude Monet, Damien Hirst, Antony Gormley.

Can you describe the Ely Arts Festival in three words?

Creativity, Artistry, Passion!

If you were to write a novel, what would its title be?

Blank Paper, One Boy And The World

Ooooh, definitely a book we want to read... Thanks Louise!
